Today we are thrilled to welcome the New York-based, multifaceted powerhouse of talent Reka Nyari, to Blind Boxes. Her unapologetically sensuous and erotic photography style is largely influenced by the arresting visual styles of Helmut Newton, Guy Bourdin, Miles Aldridge, and Cindy Sherman as well as the edgy narratives of Roman Polanski and David Lynch.
Her characteristic style embeds empowered bodies in luminous landscapes or against staged backdrops for awe-inspiring effects. Nudity, gesture, gaze, and objects, become intrinsically linked to the feminine identity.
Nyari’s works elegantly weave themes of gender, beauty, and emotion while portraying sexuality from a predominantly female perspective. In conjunction with her show currently being exhibited at Emmanuel Fremin Gallery in New York, Nyari will release an exclusive limited edition collection of NFTs on Blind Boxes.

Punctured Ink and INK STORIES
Punctured Ink, a new collection by Nyari is currently being exhibited at Emmanuel Fremin Gallery in New York. Punctured Ink incorporates works from her ongoing portrait project, INK STORIES. INK STORIES consists of large-scale nude photographs exploring concepts of self-identity and female empowerment. By highlighting intricate woven threads of ink on skin, Nyari proposes the idea that reconciliation with one’s traumas can be linked to the act of greeting one’s “own skin” or inventing their own story.
With Punctured Ink, Nyari elevates these photographs by perforating botanical-like references into the surface of each image. Each piece is truly one of a kind.
“Through highlighting the intricate woven threads of ink on each woman’s skin, Nyari proposes the idea that reconciliation with one’s traumas can be achieved by greeting one’s own skin or inventing their own story.”
Her inspiration to puncture the prints stemmed from a memory from her childhood:
“I remembered my parents had this big pad of paper next to the home phone in Finland and I would use my mother’s sewing needles to poke patterns into the paper”.
Early Life and Work
Nyari was born in Helsinki and grew up between Finland and Hungary. She arrived in New York at seventeen and went on to graduate from The School of Visual Arts. Her finesse behind the lens has won her numerous accolades including the top position at the acclaimed International Photography Awards.
